Welcome to the BIM Upskilling Platform - an accessible, engaging and innovative learning Platform, providing a wide range of free to access e-learning courses and resources on Building Information Modelling (BIM) and HS2 Digital Engineering.
Industry Context
In 2011 the UK
BIM Mandate set out by the UK Government
Construction Strategy required all centrally procured
infrastructure projects to achieve BIM level 2 by 2016. In 2018, ‘BIM Level 2’ superseded by the UK Building Information Management (BIM) Framework and in 2021, the Government (IPA) published TIP and the BIM Mandate was redefined
as the ‘Information Management Mandate’
HS2 and BIM
The use of BIM introduces major digital transformation to the architecture, construction and engineering industry as a whole. HS2 Ltd recognises the value that Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Engineering brings to the delivery of a high speed, integrated and operating railway. As a high performing, innovative organisation, HS2 Ltd is harnessing the power of Digital Engineering to enable its whole life approach to managing its digital assets and realising their value. This approach will join up all necessary asset and project data to create a cohesive Information Model, which can be visualised and interrogated for different purposes using cutting edge technology.
